Marma / Vital Point
Location of Indrabasti marma in upper forearm :
INDRABASTI MARMA/ INDRAVASTI
Indrabasti Marma is one of the delicate and vital points of the body located in the hands.
IN THE RIGHT UPPER LIMB
It is exactly located in the middle and anterior (front part of right forearm.)
Shakha Gata Marma
Since Indrabasti marma is located in limb, they are classified under shakha gata marmas. i.e. for example marmas located in the limbs.
Mansa Marma
Indrabasti marma is predominantly made up of mansa i.e. muscle tissue, which forms the structural componant of this marma. The other elements namely blood vessels, bone , joints , (ligament, tendon , nerves) are also present but in recessive form)
Kalaantara Praanahara Marma
Kalaantara meaning gradual, Praanahara meaning life taking. Indrabasti marma posses a threat to life in due course of time following its injury. The impact of injury or damage may not be immediate but happens gradually. Based on the impact of injury, Indrabasti marma is classified under Kaalantara Praanahara marma.
Measurement
Approximately equal to the horizontal dimension or breath of middle segment of one's own middle finger.
Effect of injury
Injury to this point leads to hemorrhage leading to death. Similar effect is seen when this point is injured in upper limb.
Modern Prospective
Practical anatomy of this point:
- Ulnar artery
- Median nerve
- Radial artery with its palmer branches.
- Palmer inter osseous branches of ulnar artery
- Pronator teres muscle
- Flexor digitorum profundus muscle.
- Flexor carpi radialis muscle
Though all the elements which comprise a marma i. e blood vessels, ligaments, bones, joints, are all present in the site of this marma. It is predominant in the muscle tissue, therefore it is a Mansa marma. When the Indrabasti marma got damaged, the effect of injury will chiefly involve the muscle present in the area in comparison to the extent of damage caused to other tissues.
Pressing and releasing repeatedly on this marma of the hand for 10-25 times help to lower blood sugar level. this need to be done once or twice every day.
Stimulating this marma, along with Shankha marma and koorpara marma is also useful in treatment of constipation.
- For bending press the point below the buttock.
- Hiccup : Point in between clavicle. Press and hold for 10 seconds.
- Pancreas : Lock both the index fingers and press at the center point of abdomen.
- Anger : Point near the heart. Now you are calm and peaceful.
- Sneezing : Above the midpoint of eyebrow.
- Dysmenorrhea : Point below the middle finger and midpoint of wrist.
- Cough : Medial malleolus in ankle region below.
- Constipation : Medial point of elbow.
- Urgency for toilet : Midpoint at the back of knee joint. And touching the lower part of abdomen.
- Phobia from the hieght : Massage at the back side of neck.
- Eye strain due to computer : Press the medial part of eye brow below.Eyes are relaxed.
- Migraine : In between the knuckles between middle finger and ring finger.
